A significant power outage in Moore County, N.C., about an hour outside of Raleigh, left nearly 40,000 people without power on Saturday night by what was described as “intentional vandalism” at numerous substations, police said. In a statement, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said that the power outage is “being investigated as a criminal occurrence.” This story has a twist, and people thought that it might involve a religious nutjob upset over a drag show — and she participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection.
The Fayetteville Observer reports:
Southern Pines Fire Chief Mike Cameron said that two substations in the county were damaged by gunfire on Saturday and that a possible motive wasn’t clear. Cameron, also the assistant town manager, said that the information about the cause was given to him by Duke Energy. A Duke Energy spokesman didn’t immediately respond to an email asking about the gunfire.
The Daily Beast reports:
The sheriff did not suggest what the motive might be, but a local conservative activist who organized a protest against a drag show said on Facebook that she was visited by deputies.
“I welcomed them to my home. Sorry they wasted their time,” Emily Grace Rainey wrote.
“I told them that God works in mysterious ways and is responsible for the outage. I used the opportunity to tell them about the immoral drag show and the blasphemies screamed by its supporters. I told them God is chastising Moore County, thanked them for coming and wished them a good night. Thankful for the LEOs service, as always.”
Two hours earlier, Rainey had posted the message: “The power is out in Moore County and I know why.” And around the same time, she posted a picture of the Sunrise Theater, which was putting on the sold-out drag show, with the caption “God will not be mocked.”
She allegedly participated in the Jan 6 attack on our Capitol:
I skimmed through Rainey’s
However, it appears that Rainey just wanted some attention.
“There was an individual that put some information on Facebook that was false,” Sheriff Fields said. “Yes, we had to go interview this young lady and have a word of prayer with her.” Oh. They HAD to have a word of prayer with her. Sure. But if they say she’s not involved… *shrug*
No one is surprised that Libs Of TikTok targeted the event:
