Voterly — Your Most Reliable Voter Resource this Midterm Season | by Keani Vierra | Voterly

With an election year comes a lot of questions. Am I still registered? When is the election? What offices are up for reelection? How do I research the candidates?

While most voter resource sites can answer one or two of these questions, Voterly answers them all. By gathering data from trusted sources like Vote Smart, WikiData, Google Civic Engine, Ballotpedia, Open Secrets, and more, Voterly presents the most reliable information all in one place. Not only that, we pride ourselves on being nonpartisan. We are committed to presenting independent, fact-based information that will allow you to make decisions for yourself, based on your own values.

Preparing for an election shouldn’t be a daunting task. Voting down party-line shouldn’t be the easiest option. With Voterly, you can make quick and informed decisions based on the issues you care about. Learn how below:

Explore Issues You Care About and Politicians You Align With

Our most powerful and transparent resource, Voterly’s Issues page shines a light on relevant political issues and the stance a politician takes. By gathering interest group ratings and research from reliable, third-party sources, our technology calculates a score for a politician. This score communicates where a politician stands on either side of up to 30 issues including abortion, climate change, gun control, and LGBTQ+ rights. Party affiliation has become blinding, and it is part of Voterly’s mission to combat that. We encourage voters to make informed choices based on their values.

See our recent blog outlining the feature to learn more details about the Issue Scores and calculation methodology.

Research Candidates with Smart Ballot

A trusty Voterly tool this election season. Smart Ballot goes beyond the state-issued paper ballots you receive in the mail. Rather than only indicating the offices up for reelection and the candidates who are running, Smart Ballot also provides information on each, so that you can understand the position and those who are running for it. The interactive ballot allows you to click on any candidate within a contest and view their politician profile. Profiles contain information on the politician’s experience, campaign funding, priority issues, and more.

After comparing each candidate, you as the voter can decide who you best align with. Once you’ve completed your ballot accordingly, you can download and print Smart Ballot to take with you to the polls. You can even send your ballot to friends and family with our share feature. Your Smart Ballot will become available on Voterly 30 days prior to your upcoming election, so you can show up to the polls with a plan and vote informed.

Review Your State’s 2022 Voting Guide

Since the 2020 election, over half of the 50 states have changed their voting laws. For a quick recap, check out our blog outlining each state’s changes in 2021.

To help keep track of all the recent changes, Voterly provides information on every state’s voter laws and deadlines in the country. Click on the state you’re registered in to find upcoming election dates, deadlines, registration requirements, voter ID laws, and vote-by-mail options. Sign up for election reminders so you never miss a key registration or election date. Continue down the page to find links to register to vote, find your polling place, track your ballot, and more. We even have a checklist at the top of each page to quickly summarize how voter-friendly your state is, by highlighting whether they provide things like online voter registration, automatic voter registration, all-mail voting, time off to vote, and felon voting.

Too often voters arrive at the polling place to find they have been removed from the list of registered voters. Often referred to as voter purges, states will do this after a voter has been inactive in recent, previous elections. With our registration status and monitor tools, a voter can arrive at the polls with confidence in knowing they are registered and ready to vote. Enter your name, birth date, and address into our registration status tool and quickly find out if you are still registered. Continue on to our registration monitor tool so you can be alerted if anything were to change, including being purged from the rolls. It’s that easy with Voterly!

Head to our My Reps tool and enter your address to browse every politician representing you from local, to state, to federal offices. Click on their profile card to then view their Politician Profile, providing more details on their work as your representative.
